Who Should Everton Hire As Manager

With the shocking departure of Carlo Ancelotti, Everton is once again forced to find a new manager to lead the squad. While there are many differing opinions, there are plenty of options out there for the club to hire. It also means a whole new process the team will have to go through in order to break through and become a strong contender. With that being said, let's take a look at some of the contenders for the Everton manager position.

Nuno Espirito Santos

Nuno is a serious candidate to take over as manager with even reports being said that he was even offered the position. Nuno does have a good track record as he has led Wolverhampton the past few seasons with promising results. The question is whether moving to a club with more resources will help him bring even more success. Everton provides that opportunity, but whether Nuno is the best fit at the club is the bigger question. He isn't quite an All Star signing and doesn't quite bring any excitement if he's hired, but Nuno definitely is intriguing.

Rafael Benitez

If one thought Nuno might not be as exciting of a hire, then Benitez surely is not. While not the worst hire, it's certainly not one that will take the club to the next level. Benitez had some success with Newcastle United, but left in controversial fashion. He also once managed Liverpool and that is something that fans don't take a lot of liking too. That being said, whether or not he is the right fit is the bigger question. It may be, but it certainly doesn't feel like it is. And with reports of him being offered the job and with how the fan base has expressed themselves about the possible appointment, it's safe to say that it wouldn't go over well.

Duncan Ferguson

Ferguson is a club legend and clearly loves working at Goodison Park. He once was the caretaker manager before Ancelotti took over, but other than that, he has no experience. No experience doesn't mean he won't be successful, but Ferguson does have to prove himself. While his love for the club definitely settled in well with the fans, it might not be the best decision. Ferguson says he is ready to take the challenge and be a manager, but is he the right man for the job?

Roberto Martinez

A return by the Spaniard? It's possible. This one is a bit shocking considering he was fired by the club once before, however, the results after their fifth place finish in the 2013-14 campaign were not very good and fans were happy to see him relieved of his duties. Defense was his Achilles Heel and it affected his chances of good results. But, his results as the Belgium national team manager have been stellar. So, because of what Martinez has done with Belgium, does that constitute a return? It would be a hard sell to fans.

Eddie Howe

The former Bournemouth manager is an intriguing prospect for the job as he is highly thought of. However, Howe feels a lot like a David Moyes type of manager and what that means is while not going to bring any bad results, it certainly isn't going to bring any great success. That being said, Howe is a candidate and possibly giving him the opportunity isn't a terrible idea. But it doesn't exactly bring any inspiration to the fan base. While it's unlikely he is offered the job, definitely worth looking at him.

Christophe Galtier

Galtier had just recently led Lille to a Ligue 1 title and just that should inspire confidence. Whether the team is willing to take the risk and hire him is a different question, a manager who has already won a trophy should be taken seriously. There's even been talk that not only would Galtier be a great hire, but also the perfect fit for the club. However, with rumors that team didn't want to grant his wish to bring in his own staff is not sitting well with some fans. Hiring Galtier seems like the most logical sense.

Graham Potter

Potter has been highly thought of with his job at Brighton & Hove that some think he is ready to take the next step. While Potter has seemingly done a good job with Brighton & Hove, is he the right guy for the job? Would he do a good job in recruiting players? Would he take Everton to the next level? So many question marks and it just doesn't seem like it would be the move the club makes. Maybe Potter is the right guy, but he also could be a disastrous appointment.
