Previewing Team USA At 2026 World Baseball Classic

The last edition of the World Baseball Classic, USA was one game away from winning it all, but Shohei Ohtani struck out Mike Trout handing the trophy to Japan. This time around, they're primed for redemption and win it all. This is the most stacked lineup and pitching staff USA has ever assembled for the WBC that makes them the favorites.

How Good Is The Lineup?

Murderer's Row is one of the most famous lineups ever assembled, but even that 1927 Yankees squad would never be able to go toe to toe with this team as these are some of the best hitters in the game right now. Aaron Judge, Bryce Harper, Cal Raleigh, Kyle Schwarber, Alex Bregman...this team is just stacked. The team also features Gunnar Henderson, Will Smith, Paul Goldschmidt, Bobby Witt Jr, Pete Crow-Armstrong, Roman Anthony, and Byron Buxton. Unbelievable crop of stars and power that any teams that face them will be sweating bullets. This group of players should crush their opponents.

How Good Is The Pitching Staff?

This pitching staff is electric. Tarik Skubal, Paul Skenes, Logan Webb, and Nolan McLean are the big four starters, but theres other solid options like Clay Holmes, Joe Ryan (who is out until next round), and Matthew Boyd, so the depth is there. The bullpen arms of Mason Miller, Gabe Speier, David Bednar, Garrett Whitlock, and Griffin Jax are electric and will give opposing offenses problems. Even Clayton Kershaw will take the mound to help USA win it all before he finally retires. This is a scary staff to face.

Mexico

The biggest competitor for the US in this pool as Mexico is one of the top teams in this tournament. Whoever wins the game between the two are probably going to win the Pool, but expect both to advance out of the group. Mexico boasts the talents of Alejandro Kirk, Jonathan Aranda, Jarren Duran, Randy Arozarena, Taijuan Walker, and Andres Munoz.

Italy

Italy is a sleeper team as they have players who have Italian heritage playing for the country and boast a lot of great talent. Italy could upset either Mexico or USA, that's how talented they are. They'll boast talents such as Aaron Nola, Kyle Teel, Vinnie Pasquantino, Jac Caglianone, and Dominic Canzone.

Great Britain

Great Britain is just like Italy as players who have any sort of relation to the country will represent the team and they have some talents that are very good. Watch them be able to possibly pull an upset. Great Britain boasts the talents of Vance Worley, Harry Ford, Jazz Chisholm, and Trayce Thompson.

Brazil

The weakest team in the pool, but there is some legit talent here too and will battle Great Britain to not finish in the bottom of the standings. Brazil is getting better at the sport, so they're going to showcase where they can. Talents such as Bo Takahashi, Dante Bichette Jr, and Lucas Ramirez play for Brazil.
