Looking At The Redskins: Quarterbacks

This is the first article of a series of nine looking at the Redskins' positions. The quarterback is the most important position on the field and it's a very interesting situation for the Redskins. They drafted a young player whom they hope is their franchise quarterback and they brought in an experienced backup to compliment another one who has been around for five years and knows the system. With that being said, here are the three quarterbacks for the Redskins in 2019.

Case Keenum

Keenum has a ton of potential with the big arm he has, but the problem is that he hasn't found that consistency. He did great things with the Minnesota Vikings in 2017 during their deep playoff run, but was not sharp at all for the Denver Broncos in 2018. Keenum is the probably going to get the majority of starts this year, but if he plays like he did in 2017, the Redskins will do some great things in 2019.

Colt McCoy

McCoy has solidified himself as a reliable backup quarterback for the Redskins the last five years. He knows the system and he knows it well. He's definitely a great asset to the team because of that reason. He might actually be a better option to have be the starter because he knows the system well and could help develop Dwayne Haskins. The Redskins are lucky to have him as a backup.

Dwayne Haskins

Haskins has been donned the honor of the future franchise quarterback. Having been picked from Ohio State, there is a lot to like about this kid. He is very talented and has a great skill set that needs to develop more. He won't get much action in 2019, but he will be on the sidelines learning and studying the offense before he eventually takes over full time in 2020.

*Alex Smith

Smith is not likely to come back this year after suffering a gruesome leg injury last year. Smith might not even come back from his injury ever again, but the hope is that he is healed for 2020.
