Everton has decided to make a commitment to two young talented players of theirs as the club decided to give them contract extensions after such great seasons from them. Defender Mason Holgate and forward Dominic Calvert-Lewin each agreed to contract extensions with the team as the management sees them as key pieces to the future. The team seems to think it is in their best interests to keep these two around and build around instead of selling them.
Holgate is finally getting a chance to show his skills for Everton and has shined this season. The center back has been with the club since 2015 and never got a chance to play consistently as he was blocked by Michael Keane and Kurt Zouma in 2018-19, plus he had a loan spell with West Bromwich Albion last season. Holgate has started in 19 matches and come on as a substitute three times for the club this season. His contract will last through 2025 as he signed to a five year deal.
Calvert-Lewin has always been a talented player, but never seemed to put it together, until now as he has been the club's most consistent goal scorer this season. There was speculation as to whether he would leave in the January transfer window, but with his brilliant run of goal scoring, he stayed and was rewarded with a five-year contract extension. He had three years still left on his contract, but Everton seemed to think he was worth keeping around for a while. Calvert-Lewin has started in 22 matches and has come in as a substitute five times this season as he has scored 13 goals and also has an assist.
