The Washington Capitals have named their coaching staff under head coach Peter Laviolette for 2020-21. Assistant coach will be Kevin McCarthy who has been Laviolette's side since his days with the Carolina Hurricanes dating back to 2004. McCarthy also will be working with Capitals' defensemen. He replace Reid Cashman who departed for the head coaching position with Dartmouth. Assistant coaches Scott Arniel and Blaine Forsythe remain on the coaching staff as well will goaltending coach Scott Murray.
