White Sox Trade For Lance Lynn

The Chicago White Sox have traded for right handed starting pitcher Lance Lynn from the Texas Rangers in exchange for pitcher Dane Dunning and minor league pitcher Avery Weems. Lynn, 33, went 6-3 with a 3.39 ERA in 13 starts (84 innings pitched), while striking out 89 and walking 25 batters. The biggest concern about Lynn was the 13 home runs he allowed. In 2019, Lynn went 16-11 with a 3.67 ERA in 33 starts (208.1 innings pitched), while striking out 246 and walking 59. This is an intriguing move as Lynn has finished in the top 10 of the American League Cy Young voting (fifth in 2019 and sixth in 2020), but he also only will cost $8 million for 2021 before he becomes a free agent. Lynn instantly makes the White Sox rotation deeper and one of the best in the league, plus he is durable and reliable. This is a move that signals that the team is in win-now mode.
