White Sox Sign Liam Hendriks

The Chicago White Sox have signed reliever Liam Hendriks to a three-year deal worth $54 million with an option for a fourth year. According to Ken Rosenthal on the contract details, Hendriks is guaranteed $54 million and the buyout is worth the same as the option as he gets $39 million for the first three years then an additional $15 million over a period of time if the White Sox decline his fourth year option, but if the Sox pick up that option, then it’s worth $54 million. This is the third major acquisition for the Pale Hose this offseason. Hendriks had 14 saves in 2020 with a 1.78 ERA, as well as a 1.14 FIP and a 40.2 strikeout rate as he won the American League Reliever of the Year award. Hendriks’ numbers the last couple of seasons has been outstanding as he has had a 1.66 ERA, saving 39 games out of 47, and a 33.1 strikeout rate.
