White Sox Sign Dallas Keuchel

The White Sox have made another major splash this offseason as they have brought in veteran southpaw Dallas Keuchel into their rotation. The agreement is a three-year, $55.5 million deal with a fourth year option that could take the contract to $74 million. This was the type of high profile player the Sox were looking for to improve their rotation and they have a good one in Keuchel.

Keuchel has been successful in his time in the majors as he won 76 games for Houston, including a Cy Young Award and a 2017 World Series championship. In 2019 for Atlanta, Keuchel went 8-8 with a 3.75 ERA while striking out 91 and walking 39 batters. He also is known to be a great defensive pitcher too.

Keuchel is a left handed sinker baller who gets a lot of ground balls. With his mechanics, he and Yasmani Grandal becoming battery mates should be beneficial to both of them and the Sox. Keuchel should also provide a lot innings eaten up. He should be the number two starter in the rotation behind Lucas Giolito, but he does provide depth and flexibility. While he is not quite as good as he was in 2015, he's still a decent pitcher. This was a fantastic move and this shows that the team feels like they are ready to compete.
