The Chicago White Sox have signed outfielder Adam Eaton to a one year contract worth $8.5 million and includes an option for 2022. Eaton is expected to platoon with Adam Engel in right field. Eaton struggled with the Washington Nationals in 2020 as he hit .226, four home runs, and 17 RBIs and dealt with injuries before the Nationals declined their option as he got a $1.5 million buyout. Eaton was traded by the White Sox to the Nationals in 2016 for Lucas Giolito, Reynaldo Lopez, and Dane Dunning as he helped Washington to their first World Series championship in 2019. Eaton is a great defensive player in right field and also is speedy, but with his declining stats it will be interesting to see if he returns to his productive self in 2021.
