The White Sox have placed infielder Tim Anderson on the 10-day injured list after injuring his groin. To take his place on the roster, the team promoted catcher Yermin Mercedes to the roster. Anderson was hitting .333 in seven games before the injury occurred. Mercedes had been a topic of promotion last season, but will finally be making his major league debut. Mercedes can play multiple position and also provides some pop in his bat.
