Cornerback Quinton Dunbar had been trying to get the Redskins to trade him for a while and now finally has his wish as the team has traded him to the Seattle Seahawks for a fifth round draft pick. This was in midst of rumors about Dunbar wanting a contract extension and with the team interested in bringing him back too. However, it had seemed like the talks had broken down.
Dunbar's rise to where he is now is unprecedented as he was an undrafted free agent in 2015 and Washington had signed him. He was originally a wide receiver, but made the transition to cornerback. In 11 games played for the Redskins in 2019, he recorded 37 tackles, made four interceptions, and had eight passes defended. According to Pro Football Focus, Dunbar was ranked number two out of 113 qualifying players. Head coach Ron Rivera had talked about a culture changed and seemingly Dunbar's departure signifies that.
