Redskins Sign Four Undrafted Players And International Player

The Redskins have made a couple of signings after the 2020 NFL Draft as they have brought in five players, four undrafted and an international. The four undrafted were tight end Thaddeus Moss, quarterback Steven Montez and wide receivers Jonathan Johnson and Isaiah Wright and the international player is defensive lineman David Bada. These five players will have a chance at making the 53 man roster or the practice squad.

Moss played tight end at LSU and helped lead them to a National Championship. He was expected to be a mid-round selection as he was ranked as the ninth best tight end in draft according to Dane Brugler, but ended up undrafted because of injury concerns. Moss is also the son of former wide receiver Randy Moss. This is a low risk, high reward type of move by the Redskins as Moss possibly could become the team's starting tight end. There was an obvious need by the team at the position and they addressed it with the signing of Moss.

Montez was a three year starter at Colorado and looks to be an insurance option at quarterback. He will join Dwayne Haskins and Kyle Allen and will battle for the backup role. If he does not make the team, he could be kept on the practice squad as a developmental player.

Johnson was a three year starter at Missouri and will look to battle for a roster spot. He did have some injury problems during his time at Missouri, but did put up some good numbers. If he does not make the roster, he will likely be signed to the practice squad and be a developmental player.

Wright was a dual threat four year player for Temple, something that head coach Ron Rivera likes a lot. Wright is the type of weapon who has a great chance at making the roster, but even if he doesn't he would likely be signed to the practice squad and be a developmental player. While his numbers are not exactly eye-popping, his talent and skill set is to be desired.

Bada is a German defensive lineman. He was a member of the NFL's International Players Program in 2020, which is designed to provide international athletes the opportunity to earn a spot on an NFL roster. Bada might not have a chance at making the roster because of the significant depth on the defensive line, but he could be a developmental player on the practice squad.
