Redskins Release Josh Norman And Jordan Reed

The Redskins have released two notable players in cornerback Josh Norman and tight end Jordan Reed. Both were once one of the best at their respective positions, but whether due to injuries or poor performance, the team decided to move on. This was another one of Ron Rivera's decisions for a culture change.

Norman signed with Washington before the the 2016 season as he was the hottest cornerback on the free agent market. The contract was worth $75 million over five years. He was eventually released before the fifth year on his deal. Norman had shown deep decline in production and looked to get beat a lot on plays as he played in 12 games recording 40 tackles, a sack, an interception, a forced fumble, and six passes defended. The move freed up $12.5 million in cap space.

Reed was once one of the best tight ends in the game until injuries caught up to him and wasn't able to play a full season. He has had numerous amounts of concussions among some of his injuries. Reed was a second round draft pick by the Redskins in 2013 and helped lead the team to a 2015 NFC East title. His release frees up $8.5 million in cap space.
