Despite trying to get a contract extension done, the Redskins have used their franchise tag on guard Brandon Scherff. The deal is worth $14.78 million for the 2020 season. The team has until July 15 to negotiate a new contract if they can get one done.
Scherff was the team's first round draft pick in 2015 and has helped stabilize the Redskins' offensive line over the last few seasons. Since he has been in the league, Scherff has been regarded as one of the best offensive linemen in the entire NFL. Pro Football Focus has listed him as number 10 out of 80 players who qualify.
