The Redskins made a big move last week as they promoted tight end J.P. Holtz to the 53-man roster from the practice squad and waived wide receiver Robert Davis. The move was made after finding out Jordan Reed was out for the game against Philadelphia.
Holtz has been known for his blocking abilities which helps a lot with the running game. Holtz was looked at as a work in progress as they kept him in the practice squad. Ultimately here he is in the NFL. Davis' release was shocking, but was short lived as he was retained to the practice squad.
Holtz has since been let go after the team signed Simeon Thomas and Davis signed with the practice squad. Holtz was picked up by the Chicago Bears. With this move, maybe Reed is fully fit for the Week 2 game against Dallas.
