Old Glory has made their first signing for the 2021 season as they have signed lock David Beach. Beach is a big player as he is 6'7" and 255 lbs. He joins a second row of Tevita Naqali, Dylan Piertese, Api Naikatini that has now become even deeper. Beach had played for Notre Dame College in South Euclid, Ohio and for Mystic Rugby Men's Club and as well as Stars Rugby, a high-performance rugby program that travels both domestically and internationally.
One thing Old Glory had lacked was depth in the second row as they only had three players (though there probably were some on the team who could fill in an emergency), but Beach gives them more. At his size and build, it would seem that he will have a good opportunity for regular playing time on the club. He also had wrestled in high school and added 30 pounds of muscle from training with former professional boxer George Linberger this past year suggesting that he is a strong and very physical player, which will come useful especially playing in Major League Rugby. Doug Coil, in his write up about the signing, said: "Look for him to spend time with one of the Division 1 clubs in the D.C. area and to develop and to contribute to the team as the season progresses." Whether the team does that or immediately has him play is to be determined.
