Old Glory DC Signs Prop Max Lum

Old Glory DC keeps making more great acquisitions before the 2020 season starts as they have brought in prop Max Lum to help improve the depth in the front row. Lum had played for the Colorado Raptors last season as he was mostly used as a player off the bench. Lum should get some considerable playing time now that he has joined Old Glory. He is also versatile as he can play hooker.

Lum hails from North Carolina and was exposed to rugby at a young age when he started playing for Triad Bulldogs of the Carolina Youth Rugby League. Lum also played in college having played for Wheeling Jesuit in Wheeling, West Virginia. After college, he moved to New Zealand where he played for a few clubs before coming to the Raptors in 2019 where he came in as a replacement in 14 matches. He also played for the U20 side for USA in 2013.

This was an excellent move for Old Glory as Lum is a very good ball carrier and defends really well. It is unclear how he will be used as whether he will be a starter, share playing time with Gordon Fullerton, or will come in as a replacement for Jake Turnbull. Time will only tell once more moves have been made. It's interesting they recruited Lum as he shares a position with Turnbull, and one has to wonder if he will move to tighthead or will backup Turnbull. Either way, this was a great signing.
