Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Notre Dame will be joining the ACC for the 2020 season. While it might seem more logistically and geographically sense to join the Big-10, but with the basketball team already in the ACC, it seemed like it was likely for the football team to play ACC opponents for the 2020 campaign. The school is also contractually obligated to join the ACC if they ever want to forego independence. Notre Dame will play a modified schedule where they will play 10 ACC games and an 11th against University of South Florida for a nonconference game. There isn't any divisions, so for the ACC championship game, the two top schools will advance to determine the champion of the conference.
