Matt Garvey is amongst notable names to be leaving Bath at the end of the 2019-20 season as a total of 16 players will not return. Other notable names to leave are Lucas Noguera, Levi Douglas, Jackson Willison, Rhys Webb, Rhys Davies, Tom Homer, Levi Davis, Alex Davies, and Aled Brew. Lastly names such as Sam Nixon, Will Britton, and Jack Davies will be leaving. The club had already announced the departures of Freddie Burns and Chris Cook and the retirement of Francois Louw to round out the last of the names to leave.
Garvey, the former skipper for Bath, was released from his contract. Where he will go is unknown, but he probably will catch on somewhere. Garvey has made 94 appearances for the club including having scored six tries. Garvey had played for Bath since 2013 after coming over from the London Irish.
Douglas was a product of Bath's academy and was a nice depth piece the last couple of seasons. It seems as though he is interested in getting more playing time and that might be why he was released from his contract (or he might have asked for too much money to retain his services). He will likely find playing time somewhere else.
The 26-year old Argentinian Noguera will be released from his contract as well in hopes of finding more playing time elsewhere. Noguera had only made 12 appearances for Bath since joining in 2017. It's a good question where he would go, but the loosehead prop will surely find a place to play.
The journeyman center Willison seemed it was too hard to find consistent playing time with all the depth in the midfield for Bath. The New Zealander will be headed to France to join Soyaux in the French Pro D2. Willison had played for Bath since 2018.
Homer was a big surprise considering how much he has meant to Bath since joining the club in 2015. While he is 30, he is an electric player that fit really well in the Bath offense. Despite the shock of his move, he was released from his contract assuming that he wants an opportunity elsewhere and the money he wanted wouldn't have fit in the salary cap, but also the fact that the team has many options to fill the fullback void.
The journeyman winger Brew is also going to be released from his contract at the end of the season. Where he will continue his career is unknown, but he had played for Bath since 2016 and had done an admirable job playing in 53 contests for the club. At the age of 33, it seemed like his time was almost over anyways.
Alex Davies had played at a high level of rugby since 2011 when he started for the London Welsh, but at 33 years old, his time was coming to an end at Bath. Davies left for Bath in 2018, but did not make any appearances. He did provide as depth for the club. Where he will go next in his career is unknown.
Levi Davis, Sam Nixon, Will Britton, and Jack Davies had been academy graduates, but they all will be leaving the club as Nixon will head to France and the other three have been released from their contracts. Rhys Davies will be joining Rhys Webb to the Ospreys as Webb was only going to stay with Bath until the end of the season anyways. It is already well known that Louw was retiring and with the departures of Cook to Bristol and Burns to Japan.
