Everton announced that multiple players had left the club as they pursue opportunities elsewhere. Three notable names, forward Oumar Niasse and defenders Cuco Martina and Luke Garbutt, are those who will be leaving the team. Goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg will also be leaving the club as he will return to Dutch side Ajax.
Niasse was once a promising forward when coming over to the club, but despite a few game success spurt, he was one of the worst transfers the club has made in the past decade. Martina had shown some spurts of solid play in the backs, but ultimately was seen merely as depth. Garbutt was given multiple chances to see if he could stick in Everton's first team squad, but his numerous loan spells suggested that he was going to have a hard time making the club. Garbutt is a talented player, so this was a good move for him.
