Looking At The Redskins: Defensive Line

This is the sixth article of a series of nine looking at the Redskins' positions. This defensive line is scary good as they proved to be a force to be reckoned with in 2018. There is so much imposing talent here that they instill fear on opposing offensive lines, quarterbacks, and running backs. This is one of the best pass rush units in the NFL.

Jonathan Allen

Allen is an Alabama alumni that has thoroughly impressed the team. Allen is a strong pass rusher that makes things incredibly tough for offensive lines. Allen has helped make the Redskins defensive lines one of the best in the league. His skillset is incredible and he is an imposing force on the defensive line.

Matt Ioannidis

No one saw Ioannidis become the type of player he has become, but he has helped the Redskins defensive line become a force to be reckoned with. He was late round draft pick and wasn't highly thought of, but he is now an excellent defensive lineman. He is a strong player who also is an imposing force on the defensive line.

Daron Payne

Payne is another Alabama alumni who has been just as good if not better than Allen. With his partnership with Allen and Ioannidis, the Redskins defensive line is so good that they wreak havoc on opposing offenses. Payne is very physical and is great with his feet, but he is a great player to have on the defensive line.

Caleb Brantley

Brantley should provide depth for the defensive line, but he was always a talented player. Brantley never got a chance to prove himself with the Cleveland Browns, but with the Redskins, he has one now. With having made the team, the Redskins clearly have faith in him.

Tim Settle

Settle might not have overwhelming numbers in the NFL, but he is a good player. The Redskins drafted him so he clearly has a lot of upside. However, what he does provide is depth in a very strong area for the Redskins.

Treyvon Hester

Hester was been a depth player for most of his career, but there is something there that Redskins liked that made them sign him. He was a late addition to the roster, but the fact he was on the market and was taken shows that he has something to show on the field.

T.Y. McGill

Another late addition to the team, it was interesting to see the team add McGill. McGill has seemingly played all over the league since 2015. While he provides depth, the numbers he has put up are not overwhelming. There's something here that the Redskins liked about McGill that caused them to sign him.
