Jurgen Locadia's FC Cincinnati Loan Extended To 2021

Updated: Aug 28, 2020

Jurgen Locadia, a forward on loan from Brighton & Hove Albion, will be staying with FC Cincinnati as his loan has been extended into 2021. This will give Locadia more time to impress and will be able to show what he is made of through a full campaign. There was uncertainty of what would happen to him once this pandemic affected everything, but that answer had been made.

There is still the question as to whether Locadia will stay with FC Cincinnati permanently, but either way he will be staying in the Queen City until next year. Locadia has repeatedly mentioned how much he likes the city and his desire to stay, plus he has liked playing in the MLS. He has scored a goal for the club and has made four shots, which leads the team and three of them were on goal. Locadia is classified as a designated player as well as an international one. FC Cincinnati holds the option for a permanent deal when the loan ends in 2021, but whether they exercise it remains to be seen. While a very talented player, it would cost the team quite a bit of money especially with having only played in two matches as that would be too early to decide on. However, even if they did try to exercise sometime this year, it shows the commitment that the front office has for bringing a potential star to the fold and to building a winner.
