Jonathan Sexton Named Ireland Captain For 2020 Six Nations Campaign

Andy Farrell announced that Jonathan Sexton will be the new captain for Ireland in this Six Nations campaign and most likely for the future for the country. Sexton will take over the role from Rory Best who had retired from rugby after the 2019 Rugby World Cup. Sexton is 34 years old and has 89 caps under his name.

It seems likely that Sexton will be in this role for only a few years as he is getting up there in age, but for Ireland, it seemed like a perfect for him. Sexton looked like he was a second captain during his time for Ireland as he had shown leadership on the pitch. Some have even proclaimed that he had stepped up in recent years and that he most certainly deserved this role. The only question that remains will be how long Sexton will play at the international level.
