FC Cincinnati Signs Kamohelo Mokotjo

FC Cincinnati has finalized a deal for midfielder Kamohelo Mokotjo as he was a free agent. He had played for English Football League Championship side Brentford, who had just played for promotion to the Premier League. Mokotjo will fill the international spot that the team had just acquired from New England Revolution for winger Kekuta Manneh. Mokotjo's primary position is defensive midfield.

This move would seem to make sense after all the moves that were made this week by sending Fatai Alashe, a defensive midfielder, to Columbus Crew and Manneh to New England for an international spot. Mokotjo is from South Africa having also played for his country internationally 22 times. In his career, he has spent time in the Dutch league Eredivisie, having played for Feynoord, PEC Zwolle, and FC Twente. He came up with SuperSport United in South Africa before he moved to the Netherlands and after his time there moving to England to play for Brentford. There were connections with Mokotjo when making the deal as he had played for general manager Gerard Nijkamp at Zwolle.
