FC Cincinnati has the team that could take them all the way to a MLS championship. The playoffs are a crapshoot, but when looking at their squad it's hard to not think this is a serious contender to win it all. Heck, Tom Bogert thinks they'll win it all. The club is not only deep, but is the complete package. Let's go over why this team can win it all.
The Attack
When looking at this attack, it's scary good. Kevin Denkey has been an amazing striker for this side, but he's got plenty of help and when he is gassed, options who can fill in well. Then there's Brenner who is back on loan and was a scoring machine when he was in MLS. But the prized player on the attack is Evander who is having an MVP like season and has been amazing since replacing Lucho Acosta. Next you have a player like Gerardo Valenzuela who has had a breakout campaign and looks to be a superstar in the making. Yuya Kubo is like a swiss army knife as he can play anywhere on the field, but is also lethal as he has the ability to score many goals. Luca Orellano is probably one of the more underrated players on this team as he has shown how good he really can be including scoring goals from midfield. Heck, Lukas Engel can play out on the wing giving head coach Pat Noonan more attacking options, plus players on the bench like Ayoub Jabbari, Dominik Marczuk, and Samuel Gidi who have both speed and strong boots.
The Backline
Despite the injury to Matt Miazga, the backs are very strong even if it's the "weakest" part of the team. Miles Robinson, Teenage Hadebe, Gilberto Flores, and Alvas Powell are all very strong defensive players including Robinson who has played at a national level. It was unfortunate to see DeAndre Yedlin be traded away as he added speed and another attacking option, but otherwise this is still a strong backline. Heck, having Obinna Nwobodo play as a defensive midfielder also helps.
Goalkeeper
Roman Celentano is the clear number one on this team, but Noonan does have some excellent options on the bench that could help out if he is injured which was the case earlier in the season. Evan Louro and Alec Kann are both excellent options to help when needed if Celentano is hurt, but he is also one of the best goalkeepers in MLS and is essential to winning matches in the playoffs.
Its hard not to see why this team should be favorited to win it all this year. The club is so deep and has some amazing options to play with that it seems hard to keep up with on a nightly basis. While writing this, FCC is currently tied and going into the final match of the first round of the MLS playoffs against their hated rival Columbus Crew, but when looking at other teams around the league, it's definitely easy to see why they should be favorited.
