Everton has offered long time defenseman Leighton Baines a one-year contract. The left back has played for the Blues since 2007 and used to be one of the best at his position in the Premier League. At 35 years old, it would seem like the team would try to go younger, but Carlo Ancelotti seems to think that he's worth keeping around.
Baines has played exceptionally well this season as he been insurance and good depth for the club. Ancelotti has deemed to see him as a valuable member of the team and that he fits the system. He will go down as an Everton legend, but clearly he has a lot to offer still. Whether Baines accepts the offer or not is to be seen, but despite the lack of regular playing time, he is worth keeping around as he has experience and is a quality player still.
