Collingwood star and midfielder Dayne Beams has stepped away from playing as he wants to concentrate on his mental health. It is unclear whether he intends to return to footy, but he will not be with the team once the season starts. He also was involved in a car accident recently and was in the hospital.
Beams had returned to the Magpies last season playing in nine games after having played for Brisbane. Beams originally had played for Collingwood as he was second round pick in 2008 and was traded to Brisbane in 2014. He returned to Collingwood in 2019 during the trade period. Beams had also stepped down as captain of Brisbane in 2018 after dealing with the loss of his father.
