Collingwood made a significant investment and commitment as they have re-signed Brodie Grundy to a seven year contract. The ruckman was set to become a free agent after the 2020 season. The contract keeps Grundy with the Magpies through the 2027 campaign.
Grundy is a two-time Copeland Trophy winner and a two-time All-Australian and he is only 25 years old. Grundy made his debut back in 2013 for Collingwood and has played in 132 matches. During that time he has become so exceptional that he has become a ruckman/midfielder hybrid for the club. Grundy has been a very important player for the Magpies the last two seasons as he has amassed over 1,000 hits in 2018 and 2019 each, averaged over 20 possessions per match, led Collingwood’s contested possession game, and became one of their best clearance players. In his career he has averaged 31.87 hit outs and 17.6 disposals per match.
