Capitals Release Brendan Leipsic

The Capitals have released forward Brendan Leipsic after recent photos were released from his social media where he made some misogynist remarks, talked about taking illegal drugs, and attacked teammates of his on the team and former ones. The comments were made in a private group chat on Instagram and were leaked on Twitter and other social media sites. This will also take Leipsic's cap hit off the available cap room and giving away a roster spot for another player.

While the vile and disgusting remarks ultimately turned out to be the reason for his termination, the likelihood of Leipsic returning was unlikely. He had been very unproductive as in 61 games he had scored three goals and eight assists. Leipsic was also playing on the fourth line, so his termination only gives someone else a chance to play, but he had also been a healthy scratch in seven straight games. He had signed a one year contract worth $700,000, so the Capitals were not likely to re-sign his services with an unproductive season anyways.
