The Capitals have announced that Peter Laviolette has been named as the team's new head coach. The contract is for three-years and worth around $15 million. Laviolette has coached the Philadelphia Flyers, Nashville Predators, Carolina Hurricanes, New York Islanders in his career and has coached in 143 Stanley Cup Playoff games and has led Nashville to a Final appearance in 2017, Flyers in 2010, and won the Cup in 2006 with Carolina. The 55 year old is the 19th head coach of the franchise.
