Capitals Announce Opening Roster And Transactions


With the Washington Capitals needing to make roster cuts for their opening roster against the Buffalo Sabres, listed below is the roster coming out of camp. Note that rosters have expanded to 26 from 23 and there are six players on a taxi squad.

Transactions


Loaned the following players to the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League: Kody Clark, Brett Leason, Garrett Pilon, Joe Snively and Riley Sutter. Additionally, the Capitals have re-assigned Axel Jonsson-Fjallby from Vasterviks (Sweden) to Hershey, and Hendrix Lapierre has been loaned to Chicoutimi of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.


Capitals placed nine players, including forward Shane Gersich and Michael Sgarbossa in addition to defenseman Lucas Johansen and goaltender Pheonix Copley, on waivers. Forwards Daniel Carr and Philippe Maillet; defensemen Paul LaDue and Cam Schilling; and goaltender Zach Fucale were the other five players placed on waivers.
