Bath's Premiership Match Day Eight Preview: Newcastle Falcons

James Rowe

Bath will hope to regain their form after some disappointing losses in the Champions Cup, but coming back to Premiership play should help. Their next opponent is Newcastle Falcons, whom are near the bottom of the table and are not very good at all. However, Johann van Graan has named a strong side that should hopefully equate to a victory and very possibly a bonus point.

Dominate The Scrum

Bath clearly has the advantage here as the talent level is a big difference, but that doesn't mean Newcastle doesn't have any players who can't hold their own weight. Jamie Blamire is one of the best in the league and Callum Chick is a stud from the back row. However, Bath needs to dominate when they can and if able to, then the Falcons will be tired physically.

Neutralize Adam Radwan

Radwan is one of the best in the league and a dynamic player. Sure, he has others to help him out like Stevenson and Hutchinson, but Radwan is the main driver of Newcastle's attack. When he has the ball, make sure the speediest player on the pitch has his eye on him the entire time, plus Bath will have to get set defensively too. Getting physical with Radwan might not be a bad idea either.

Disrupt Brett Connon

While he isn't one of the best in the league, he's still a very good player. Converging on him is the best way to rattle Connon who also has a very good boot. He might not have the vision or the type of play calling such as Finn Russell, but Connon has been playing in this league for a while and offers a lot of experience.

Win The Lineouts

Lineouts has been an issue for Bath lately, but here's a golden opportunity to right the ship as the team should have a clear advantage over Newcastle. Tom Dunn's inaccuracies keep plaguing the team, but with Ross Molony and Quinn Roux on the team, it should help. Fixing the problems against a side like Newcastle will be helpful.
